Manhattan Goods Co. sells leather goods for people who carry a laptop to work and a bag onto a plane: briefcases, weekenders, portfolios, wallets and the small things that keep a bag in order.
Who we are
We are an online retailer based in Sheridan, Wyoming. We sell one kind of thing, leather goods for work and travel, and we try to sell it plainly. Every product page gives the leather thickness, the hardware, the lining and the measured size, and every price is the price you pay before tax and shipping. There is no list price to be discounted from and no countdown clock.
Despite the name, we are not in New York. The name describes the kind of bag we have in mind, one built for a city commute, and not where we are. Our address is on every page, and it is in Wyoming.
What we sell
The range is arranged in eight groups: briefcases and work bags, travel bags, portfolios and folios, wallets and card cases, travel accessories, tech cases, belts and straps and sets and gifting. The bags are sized by the laptop they carry, the weekenders by capacity in liters, and the small goods by what they hold, so you can choose by what you carry rather than by what a piece is called.

We keep the range small on purpose. A bag that does one job well is easier to describe honestly, easier to photograph honestly and easier to return if we have described it wrong.
Leather, hardware and finish
Everything we sell is cut from full-grain bovine leather. Full-grain means the natural surface of the hide is kept rather than sanded away, which makes the leather stronger, lets it breathe and gives it an even patina as it ages. Thickness runs from 1.0 mm for small goods to 3.5 mm for belts and is listed on each product page.
| Detail | What we use |
|---|---|
| Leather | Full-grain bovine leather, 1.0 to 3.5 mm |
| Colors | Black, graphite (dark cool gray), midnight (deep blue-black), stone (light cool gray) |
| Hardware | Brushed nickel and gunmetal |
| Stitching | Bonded polyester thread at every stress point |
| Edges | Painted to match the leather and burnished smooth |
| Mark | A riveted MG name plate, blind-debossed into the leather |

We chose four cool colors and kept hardware to nickel and gunmetal so that pieces bought months apart still belong together. Nothing is gilded and nothing is lacquered.
The name plate
Pieces that have room for it carry a small rectangular name plate with the letters MG between two rivets. On leather it is blind-debossed: pressed into the surface with no ink and no foil, so it shows in raking light and nowhere else. It is the only decoration we use. We do not print logos across a bag, and we do not sell fashion collaborations or seasonal colors.

Who it is for
Most of our customers are people who commute and people who travel for work: someone who needs one briefcase that looks right at every meeting, someone who wants a weekender that does not look like luggage, someone starting a job who needs a padfolio and a card case. We also fill team and gift orders. Many pieces come as a pair or a set of three, and the gift sets are priced at the price of the pieces in them. For anything larger, write to us and we will quote it.
